With around 250 km / 156 miles of coastline, Lanzarote is home to some of the world's best beaches. Most of the beaches in Lanzarote feature white or golden sand, although a number of beaches on the island contain black or dark volcanic sand, pebbles and fine gravel, particularly around Lanzarote's Puerto Del Carmen area.

Lanzarote contains almost 100 separate beaches, with a further nine in nearby La Graciosa, a small and secluded island within easy reach of the mainland. Many of Lanzarote's beaches offer superb conditions for a variety of water sports, including surfing, windsurfing, scuba diving, snorkelling and fishing. Sailing is particularly popular at La Santa Beach in the Tinajo area of Lanzarote, and Famara Beach in the Teguise area, both of which are situated on the western side of Lanzarote. Here are the main beaches in the Lanzarote area.




Lanzarote Beaches: Arrecife - Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
Close to the airport, beaches in the Arrecife area of Lanzarote feature fine sand and a good selection of hotels nearby. This is a busy, commercial area of Lanzarote and the beaches provide important recreational areas to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

  • El Cable Beach - a golden sandy beach next to Lanzarote's El Cable tourism development, around 300 metres / 984 feet in length, with gold sand, often suitable for windsurfing
  • El Reducto Beach - known for its white sand, scenic views and excellent facilities, which include plenty of hotels, restaurants, shops selling Lanzarote souvenirs and postcards, a boardwalk and kiosks, measuring around 500 metres / 1,640 feet in length

Lanzarote Beaches: La Graciosa - Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
A small island standing on the northern side of Lanzarote, La Graciosa has much to offer in the way of beaches and coastline. Many of the La Graciosa beaches are peaceful, secluded spots which can only be reached on foot.

  • Caleta de Arriba Beach - in Lanzarote's Chinijo Archipelago area, approximately 55 metres / 180 feet long, with conditions perfect for windsurfing, swimming and other water sports
  • La Cocina Beach - around 100 metres / 328 feet long, accessed by foot, with white sand and appealing scenery
  • Las Conchas Beach - a 600-metre / 1,968-foot stretch of white sand, known for its magnificent coastal views
  • Francesa Beach - a peaceful spot with white sand stretching for more than 400 metres / 1,312 feet, suitable for bathing and swimming, with basic amenities
  • La Laja Beach - measuring around 100 metres / 328 feet, with natural white sand, rural views, only accessed by boat, in the Chinijo Archipelago area of Lanzarote
  • Lambra Beach - a secluded white sandy beach only accessible on foot, around 600 metres / 1,968 feet long, with parking nearby
  • El Salado Beach - measuring almost 2,000 metres / 6,562 feet in length, with white sand, rural views, showers and camping facilities, standing in Lanzarote's Chinijo Archipelago area

Lanzarote Beaches: Tias (Puerto del Carmen) - Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
Based around Puerto del Carmen village, beaches in Lanzarote's Tias area are aimed at tourists and are amongst the most popular on the island. With a variety of water sports on offer here, beach in Tias regularly feature lifeguards, hotels, nearby shops and beach-hire, including sunshades and hammocks.

  • Barrilla Beach - almost 100 metres / 328 feet in length, with golden sand, a boardwalk area, parking for cars, nearby hotels and regular lifeguards
  • Fariones Beach - a narrow natural stretch of golden sand, measuring around 50 metres / 131 feet, with calm waters suitable for bathing and a popular Lanzarote hotel offering good amenities
  • Lima Beach - situated in Lanzarote's Matagorda area, a vast and wide stretch of natural golden sand, around 900 metres / 2,953 feet in length, ideal for windsurfing
  • Los Pocillos Beach - an enormous natural beach measuring more than 1,200 metres / 3,937 feet by 150 metres / 492 feet, with excellent amenities and facilities, including nearby hotels, restaurants, shops, showers and a boardwalk, suitable for windsurfing
  • Matagorda Beach - part of a notable tourism development in Lanzarote, a sandy beach suitable for both bathing and windsurfing, around 800 metres / 2,625 feet in length
  • Pena Grande Beach - part of Lanzarote's secluded Pena Grande cove, around 40 metres / 131 feet, with nearby hotels, restaurants and good facilities
  • Playa Grande Beach - a natural, wide golden beach located in the major tourism zone, stretching for more than 1,100 metres / 328 feet, with lifeguards, nearby restaurants and hotels, hammocks, kiosks and shops, offering a range of water sports

Lanzarote Beaches: Yaiza - Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
Sited on the south of Lanzarote, Yaiza is based around the village of Playa Blanca and is home to an enormous selection of beaches and a truly spectacular coastline. There are beaches for everyone in Yaiza, ranging from natural stretches of fine back sand, to artificial manmade white sandy beaches.

  • Punta de Papagayo Beach - comprising a number of spectacular natural white sandy beaches, located in Lanzarote's Punta de Papagayo area
  • La Campana Beach - a golden sandy beach, measuring around 140 metres / 460 feet, ideal for swimming and sunbathing, with good amenities nearby
  • Las Coloradas Beach - more than 400 metres / 1,312 feet in length, a narrow, natural beach with black sand, calm waters, a nearby castle and impressive views
  • El Golfo Beach - comprising two natural beaches close to Lanzarote's famous semi-circular volcanic crater and green lagoon, measuring around 300 metres / 984 feet
  • Flamingo Beach - standing in the Playa Blanca area of Lanzarote, a manmade beach with white sand, calm waters suitable for swimming and bathing, hotels nearby and a host of amenities, including a boardwalk, restaurants, playground for children and shops
  • Janubio Beach - with fine black sand, an 800-meter / 2,625-foot natural beach standing alongside the Janubio Lagoon

Lanzarote Beaches: Haria - Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
The Haria beaches can be found in northern Lanzarote and feature the island's highest level of rainfall, which is reflected in the lush and verdant countryside nearby. Many of the beaches are situated in almost isolated, rural locations, away from the main tourism areas of Lanzarote.

  • La Caleta Beach - just 60 metres / 197 feet of fine white sand, suitable for windsurfing and other recreational water sports, in the Malpais de la Corona area, close to the famous Jameos del Agua underground caves
  • La Caleta del Mojon Beach - stretching more than 100 metres / 328 feet, with white sand, rural views, good public transportation connections and basic amenities, ideal conditions for windsurfing
  • Caleton Blanco Beach - with white sand, calm waters suitable for bathing, a children's playground and kiosks, in Lanzarote's Malpais de la Corona area, approximately 500 metres / 1,640 feet long
  • La Garita Beach - major municipal beach in the Arrecife area of Lanzarote, measuring over 800 metres / 2,625 feet, although somewhat narrow, this popular beach features exceptional facilities nearby, including hotels and eateries, a playground for children, parking, a boardwalk and kiosks
  • El Risco Beach - a fairly narrow golden sandy beach in a secluded rural location, around 800 metres / 2,625 feet in length

Lanzarote Beaches: Teguise (Costa Teguise) - Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
Lanzarote's Costa Teguise in overflowing with seemingly endless stretches of beaches and offers some of the most popular beaches on the island. Famara Beach stands in the Teguise area and is the longest beach in Lanzarote.

  • Ensenada de la Caleta Beach - measuring around 400 metres / 1,312 feet in length, close to Lanzarote's Mármoles harbour area, with calm waters suitable for bathing and swimming, nearby hotels and restaurants, showers and a boardwalk
  • Famara Beach - the longest beach in the whole of Lanzarote, nearby La Caleta, stretching for more than 6,000 metres / 19,685 feet, with natural golden sand, nearby hotels and strong waves, which attract both surfers and windsurfers
  • Playa Bastian Beach - a fairly narrow beach around 400 metres / 1,312 feet long, with white sand, hotels and restaurants, hammocks and parking

Lanzarote Beaches: Tinajo - Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain
Often offering exceptional conditions for both surfing and windsurfing, beaches in the Tinajo area of Lanzarote are known for their particularly scenic views.

  • La Santa Beach - a scenic, white sandy beach alongside a beautiful lagoon, measuring more than 900 metres / 2,953 feet, situated in Lanzarote's Archipelago area, a major recreational spot featuring an extensive range of recreational activities and water sports

  • La Concha Beach - with calm waters ideal for bathing and swimming, alongside Lanzarote's La Concha tourist development, with hotels, eateries, natural sand and regular buses, measuring around 250 metres / 820 feet
